June 2010 – We drove south from around Virginia Beach down to the 130+ mile long string of narrow barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina known as the Outer Banks or OBX. Some of the most pristine beaches in the US. As well as some of the most stunning beach houses and wild Banker ponies.
You can not drive the entire span of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. You get to sit back and relax on a picturesque 45 minute ferry ride between Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands. And a longer, 2.5 hour ferry to Cedar Island if you continue south.
