Main Street Station RV Park | Las Vegas NV

Sept 2011 –  We are staying at the Main Street Station RV Park for at least a couple weeks this visit to Las Vegas Nevada.  Full hookups with a shower house and laundry facilities for $16 / night,  just a short walk (couple blocks) to the Fremont Street Experience.

After waking up at 4 am and leaving Dancing Eagle Casino RV Park in Casa Blanca NM we hit the road to drive the final 500 miles of this part of our journey. As we drove up into Flagstaff AZ the temp dropped into the 40’s, but a quick trip down the other side of the mountains and we were headed into the desert and temps of about 105.

We arrived at the Main Street Station Casino, Hotel, RV Park around noon. We picked a nice shady spot (218) and got hooked up to utilities before heading over to the hotel to register and eat at the buffet.  We are in the spot next to the one we stayed in last year. This year a casino worker appears to be living in 217. Big Bird lives right here on Main St (not Sesame Street as previously thought) in a RV adjacent to  ours.

The 3 day convention, as well as the day before and after, we were very very busy. We met with clients, new prospects, friends old and new, ate far too much and had a lot of fun.

We had a great time hanging out with friends at the Hilton lounge and the Shark tank at the Golden Nugget – Las Vegas NV.

The week after the convention, the high temps dropped into the 90’s. We spent the days working in the RV and the evenings walking around downtown Las Vegas / Fremont Street. The people watching here is second to none. Its a freak show!

We’ve also been enjoying the various buffets and restaurants in downtown Las Vegas (a little too much actually, Mark gained 12 lbs the first week here). T-bone Tuesdays at the Grand Buffet  (Main Street) is still our favorite. We’ve also become regulars at Uncle Joe’s on Fremont. Small Italian eatery with good food. Everything we’ve tried has been good (pizza, rigatoni, garlic bread, burgers, fries, and especially the fried zucchini). Next door to Uncle Joe’s, Kabob Korner has a decent chicken gyro and some seasoned fries which we found on a Monday when Uncle Joes was closed. The worst meal was at the Wynn buffet (first time Mark ‘lost’ at a casino buffet). The Paradise buffet at the Fremont was not as good as years past.

Cory missed the convention last week, but came down to see us this weekend.  Saturday we drove up Mount Charleston. Awesome day trip from Las Vegas. Only an hour away and so vastly different. 30 degree temp change in about 15 minutes driving. In the evening we walked around the Fremont Street Experience, ate some Picadilly’s pizza and watched the bands for a little while.

T-mobile "Rocket" 4g Our Internet speeds this week have been atrocious (slower than dial-up at times).  Its been painful and frustrating trying to get work complete in a timely manner. Saturday Cory drove us to the T-mobile store and picked up a ‘Rocket” 4g Internet device. Our mobile Internet speed is now faster than the cable internet we had at ‘home’ in Madison OH.  Work next week will now be much less stressful than it has been this past week.

If / When we get our original Internet providers service (Sprint / Millenicom) working correctly again we will now have 3 ways to access the Internet.  Our recent speed and access issues should be solved and we can now get back to regular work schedule rather than having to work extra overtime due to extremely slow Internet.

We’ve found some great places to watch NFL football games. Huge screens all the way around the room, every game being show on at least a couple screens.

We are heading a few miles down the road to Sam’s Town RV Park next, hope to see you there!
