Bad drive today (Traders Village RV Park in Houston to New Orleans), we lost hours due to a flipped over dump truck (closed freeway) and construction delays on I-10 and some really rough roads on 90 around Lafayette LA.
Although the drive was a little longer than we had anticipated, we still had a good time together (and much better than the dump truck driver that is for sure). The humidity definitely increased as we traveled toward the Gulf.
We’ll spend a few nights here and check out the French Quarter…
The roads (in New Orleans) to the park have all been recently repaved and are very smooth, The park itself is surrounded by barbed wire. The RV’s are packed in very tight. All hookups including cable TV. Wish we’d had a lot more time to investigate the French Quarter. Other than being mislead about the availability of the shuttle, we enjoyed our stay (Jude Travel Park did not have a shuttle running Friday night and didnt bother to tell us before we drove a few hundred miles to get there).
While walking around the French Quarter we had a Pot Luck PoBoy and Truffle Fries at Something Else Cafe. The Pot Roast was unbelievable, the truffle fries were very good, but not as good as those at Tommy Two Scoops in Jersey City NJ.
Of course we also stopped at Pat O’Briens for refreshments! Actually stopped back at Pat O’s several times for fresh Hurricanes. (Also tried another bar’s version of a Hurricane, yuk – stick to Pat O’s!)
We also met a very nice couple that had just gotten married. We shared a few drinks with them on the patio at Pat O’s before hustling back to catch our shuttle at the French Market. Unfortunately the French Market was closed for the evening and we will have to return to check it out. Our day in the French Quarter was awesome.
