While living at the Main Street Station RV Park in downtown Las Vegas, we saw the signs going up on Fremont Street for the Heart Attack Grill. We were looking forward to trying this place once they opened. When we went back downtown (rode the shuttle from Sam’s Town RV Park) we were sure to stop in for dinner.
The warning sign on the door reads “Caution: This place is bad for your health.”
Heart Attack Grill ‘Diet Center’ has a hospital theme. You are checked in, and helped into a hospital gown. Waitresses (“nurses”) take the order (“prescriptions”) from the customers (“patients”). There is a scale and blood pressure testing machine. Customers over 350 lb eat for free if they weigh in with a doctor or nurse before each burger. The “Clinic’ rewards customers who finish a Triple or Quadruple Bypass Burger, by placing the ‘patient’ on a wheelchair and they get wheeled out by their “personal nurse”.
I ordered a single bypass burger (1/2 lb burger patty) with 5 slices of bacon, and flatliner fries (fresh french cut potatoes deep fried in pure lard), a Mexican-bottled Coca-Cola made with real sugar. and a chocolate butterfat milkshake to give the place a try on the first visit to the clinic.
All Bypass Burgers are served, per patty, with a slice of American cheese, red onion, sliced tomato, and Heart Attack Grill’s own unique special sauce. They also offer 5 slices of bacon per burger patty. The Quadruple Bypass Burger (8000 calories) consists of four, half-pound beef patties, practically a whole tomato and about half an onion. The buns are coated in lard.
The super thick high calorie chocolate butterfat milkshake (made from butter fat cream and garnished with a slice of butter) was not my favorite type of chocolate but was still good. I will try strawberry next time.
While a little expensive ($18), it was very good quality food with excellent service and a great atmosphere. The burger was delicious, the fries were very tasty and the shake was over the top. After finishing my burger I would have liked some more (but not after finishing the shake). Next time we stop for a check up at the ‘Diet Center’ I will try at least a Double Bypass Burger.
The Heart Attack Grill was a great addition to the Fremont Street Experience (and Las Vegas). We will definitely be back for more.
