September 1 2011 – We woke up and hit the road early to beat the heat (forecast 110 today). Since we lost the generator we are traveling during the cooler hours of the day to get through this heat wave.
We made a short hop across Oklahoma from the Firelake Casino in Shawnee to Elk City. We are camping at one of our favorite free RV spots, right off I-40. We camped here at Lake Elk City Park last October.
Elk City Lake Park only has 4-5 RV pads with electricity (no water), but we were the only RV parked here again this visit.
We arrived nice and early, hooked up to power and went to work. We got a lot accomplished, but it was a long day. Easy food made that part of the day a little easier, muffin for breakfast, Mountain House spaghetti for lunch, and soup for dinner. Boil water, mix, eat. Doesn’t get much easier.
Maui did not feel good last night, but looks much better today. We took him for a walk. He really enjoyed the breeze and sunshine (and dragonflies, crickets and everything else that moved).
We were treated to a beautiful sunset over the lake this evening. Nice place, surprised (and enjoying) that there are not more campers here.
